The nine
The nine is the highest player on the pitch, back to goal.
“…where her hold up play and bringing others into the attack as it builds up is very good”

The numbers she plays
Three numbers, one player
Her shirt says 25. The coach who has her this season describes her in three others, and the words under each one are his.
The eight or ten
The eight starts deeper and arrives late. The ten plays between the lines, off the last defender.
“…where she demonstrates the ability to play between the lines joining the attacks from a deeper position”
“A great striker of the ball when given opportunities to shoot. She demonstrates a high intensity work ethic on and off the ball, with a competitive mentality and will to win”
Rob Harrison, Current SoCal Blues 2010 ECNL Coach
“Isabella Petroni is an exceptional leader and a fantastic presence on and off the pitch.”
“If I told you to go to a game and find Isabella Petroni, I wouldn't even give you a jersey number.”
“I would just say 'look for the kid that's giving every single bit of heart and energy on and off the ball, lifting her teammates with words and action, and that's her'”
Kurt Divich, Former Coach
What her coaches wrote
Verbatim, and not by us
“Isabella is a talented coach-able player that has a knack of scoring goals, but also works tirelessly on defense. She has a good soccer IQ and can play several positions well. She is very competitive in everything she does, hates to lose, and is liked by everyone on her team.”
